BA 4 - project 1 THE GAME


Okay we are at a stage now where the game idea and what is involved is pretty much there. we have decided on the idea that the character is a bird that adopts the nature around it depending on the stage it is at. What i mean is that when its on its lower levels its more like a little owl with leaves and moss on it back then develops to a small bird with grass on its back and so on until it leaves the planets orbit then it will be planet size huge stingray shaped rocky bird which is more like a planet than creature then in its last level its a giant Phoenix that is made out of fire because its so close to the sun. but yeah that is a brief summary of the character development.

With the character development, we have decided on having 8 levels that it can progress through and it will get bigger faster and just more epic as you progress through each level. how to go into another level is just by gaining height and when you break a certain height you transform. 

level 1 is a small owl creature that has leaves all over it and in the shade dried leaves. at this stage you are very small and can run along the floor but it takes the player to work out how to fly and for him to do that before you can take off. 

level 2 is when you have taken off from the ground your are slightly bigger and more like a small bird still with leaves on your back but you are stronger so you can fly better and faster.

level 3 this level you are bigger and taking more shape of the sting ray and you now have grass on your back and rocks forming underneath you. 

level 4 you are pretty big now size of maybe a hill or a large house and you are very fast and have a meadow on your back with big rocks and lots of soil underneath you.

level 5 now you are in the clouds mountain size with grass and bushes and small trees on your back and your can fly around the planet pretty quickly now.

level 6 you are now in space and have broken orbit you are purely rock now and loot like a giant planet size arstoied.

level 7 you are now massive made up of broken up rocks with light coming from the games and you have bits of rock floating all around you.

level 8 you are the final size this massive planet size fire Phoenix and you are in the suns orbit .

In the game we have decided the mechanics would be very simple just one button to flap each wing and if you press them at the same time you get a boost. Other than that the only other control is that you can control the camera angle. we feel if you keep it simple then it make the player just enjoy the game for what it is.

Pieter being the amazing person that he is has created the sickest prototype of our game. it is fully functional for the first 3 levels and is sweet.

Also we have found an old Japanese legend which the story has similar qualities to our game and has a similar story line. the story is called ‘peng’ it is a story of a bird that is greater than all birds but starts from this little bird and then discovers greatness. that is a very very brief summary but the full info is in our GDD. But because of this story we have decided that is the name of our game. So now i need to design a logo and a title fitting for the game.
