For our final term of first year games art and design at NUCA, we were told that we had to make a doorway from a game we are inspired by or find aesthetically pleasing.
I chose the game LA noire. The reason for this decision is that I love the idea of designing something to be fitted into the 1930-40’s. Also I love how that game looks I feel the rockstar (the developers) really nailed the texturing and lighting to give it a dark mystery kind of look. But where I am stuck is deciding what kind of building I want to make from 1940s LA. Originally I was thinking a front of some epic building that has high significance in the game, eg a library or a cathedral or even a film set (a film set because in the game there is a big section of story line where u visit different film sets).
Here is a selection of images I was originally looking at for inspiration.
But then I started to think about it more and was like realistically I'm rubbish at Maya and I have very little experience with modeling so I recon I should simplify my idea. so i decided that i was going to focus of a smaller building, then i remember the abandoned church in the game where one of the villains to mass murder case’s hide out. And straight away i knew that that is what i wanted to do!
