digital life drawing :)
the first 3 of these are 2-5 minutes sketches from life when sitting around with my friends. but the last one took a lot longer and was part from life and part from photo.
Elie's face is finished :)
here are the finished screenshots of my sculpt of Elie's face :) i feel it when really well but if i was to improve it i would work more on the hair.
development stages of sculpting Elies face
for our second project we had to sculpt a fellow pupils face, i chose my friend elie . the top images are earlier stages and they progress down. i am loving doing this although i am finding it challenging at the same time. i like how mud box works but when working from photos and sketches i find it hard. like i feel it would be a lot easier working from real life.
mudbox :)
this was my first attempted at mud box, and i fell in love with it straight away :) this was a buddah character that i kind of just made it up in my head and use google images for reference of head same act. it still needs a little work in the eyes act but i feel it has turned out pretty nice .
life drawing
a lot of these are just sketch book drawings act, but i thought i would include them because they where all done from life, well i say that i did basic pencil sketches from life then photographed and then worked into.
animation, jump cycle
this was by far the most challenging out of all the animation, this was defiantly expected. i am relatively happy with my jump, well i gave him a hop mainly because i felt that was more him than an all out jump. just because if i wanted to do it in a series with my others then i don't think it would work too great if it was a big jump so i chose my hop. if i was to do this again then i think i would try and make it a lot smoother than how it is at the moment but i have run out of time. so i may work ono it after hand in.
animation, run cycle
to follow the walk animation i gave him a bit of a goofy run, which feel works witht the whole characters look and feel that you get from looking at him. i found the run cycle very easy after doing the walk, which is strange because i would think it would be more challenging but oh well. the only thing i would change about this and i did try to change it but for some reason i just can't get it right. is the hands all i want is for them to be in fists but i just can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.
first character animation, walk cycle
after using maya for the bouncy ball animation i found the controls to the moon rig a little challenging but after playing around quite a bit it soon became a lot easier and then i really cracked on with it. i am finding maya really enjoyable and the more i do it the more i am leaning towards specialising in animation next year. anyways going back to the walk cycle. i feel it was successful and i am very happy with his kind of limp/swager i game him i really do hope tho that my tutors see i did that on perps rather than just as a mistake.
animation bouncy ball
this was my first attempt at using maya. i found the animation to begin with very challenging but then as the tools became more and more fluid i found myself using it almost naturally and was very excited when i finished it and was over the moon with the outcome. the only areas i would change would be the bit of animation where it hit the floor i felt that that wasn't as smooth as the rest of the animation.
